Ton van Meesche - 2012
Art in jazz and bluesmusic is mainly expressed through black and white photos, although some jazzmusicians are good painters like Miles Davis, Johnny Otis, Larry Rivers and Daniel Humair.
In 2009 the musée du quai Branly in Paris revived art in jazz through a great exhibition « Le Siècle du jazz » showing great artwork from De Staël, Dubuffet, Basquait, Rivers and many others.
As jazz music is an art of freedom and improvisation, I have great pleasure painting jazz and blues in watercolours, another way of improvising art with little correction possible.
Archie Shepp once said: « Jazz is Life » Let us all enjoy it!
